Kinky Friedman: The Loneliest Man I Ever Met

Kinky Friedman:
The Loneliest Man I Ever Met

Kinky Friedman has reinvented himself yet again, this time with his first all new studio album in nearly forty years. Kinky, with the extraordinary help of producer Brian Molnar, guitarist Joe Cirotti, and former Texas Jewboy pianist Little Jewford, presents an all new Kinky, with his album, The Loneliest Man I Ever Met. Filled with never-heard-before Kinky originals and beautifully rendered covers of such artists as Tom Waits, Warren Zevon, and Willie Nelson, this new CD is all about Kinky s ultimate ability to deliver much more than just a funny line or humorous tune. The spare, yet lush arrangements all point up Kinky’s unique talent as both a songwriter and interpreter of great material. Guest performers Nelson, his sister Bobbie, bassist Kevin Smith, and uber mouth harpist Mickey Raphael support with appearances but never override the simplicity and grace of the tunes and the artist himself. In a career filled with wondrously successful adventures, Kinky Friedman has never put forth something so personal as The Loneliest Man I Ever Met.

The Wood Brothers: Paradise

The Wood Brothers: Paradise

Paradise is The Wood Brothers’ most rocking and collaborative collection to date. The album features a number of firsts for the band including their first recording session at Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound, the first time they’ve written an album collectively with all three members in the same room, and the first of the band’s recordings to feature bassist Chris Wood on electric bass. As captured on “Singin’ to Strangers” and the donkey gazing at the carrot on the album’s cover, Paradise explores the paradox of longing, desire and the ways in which the pursuit of fulfillment can keep it perpetually out of our reach. The desire for connection is clear on the album from “Touch Of Your Hand” – a song about what Chris describes as “the most basic human need that there is”- to “Two Places” – a track about longing for home and family while on the road – to “Never And Always,” which examines the fundamental emotional experiences of loneliness and belonging.

Clutch: Psychic Warfare

Clutch: Psychic Warfare

produced by longtime producer Machine (Lamb Of God, Every Time I Die) and consists of 12 new tracks. “The title ‘Psychic Warfare’ is taken from the track, ‘X-Ray Visions,” states singer Neil Fallon. “It’s a tale about an unnamed protagonist who is forced to seek refuge in a flop house motel. He is hiding from several nefarious psychic forces, the worst of which is his own sleep deprived paranoia.” The album cover was designed by renowned photographer Dan Winters. Clutch have been pushing the boundaries that define heavy rock music since the four original members got together in high school. Clutch is an unmatched musical force that has been best described as “the quintessential American Rock Band.”

Queensrÿche: Condition Hüman

Queensrÿche: Condition Hüman

Condition Hüman, sees front man Todd LaTorre deliver the performance of a lifetime on what is now his sophomore recording effort with the band. Produced by Zeuss (Rob Zombie, Hatebreed, Sanctuary) in the band’s native Washington, Condition Hüman is a new mountain towering over many of the peaks and valleys of the hard rock landscape. The band’s name is uttered in the same breath as many of the groups they looked to as influences and others who arose as peers. Queensrÿche built a dedicated legion of fans traveling the globe on tour with fellow rock giants like Iron Maiden, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Judas Priest, and Def Leppard. In recent years, they’ve consistently delivered high-octane live shows combining the hungry fire of a new band with the tempered experience of master showmen.

Sevendust: Kill the Flaw

Sevendust: Kill the Flaw

You don’t have to change everything. However, realigning can be the healthiest remedy after nearly two decades in the music business. Going into their eleventh full-length album, Kill The Flaw, Sevendust changed a lot around them regarding the infrastructure of their organization, but they didn’t alter what matters the most-the music. Following their first significant break (two months) since forming, the Atlanta group-Lajon Witherspoon [lead vocals], Clint lowery [lead guitar, backing vocals], John Connolly [rhythm guitar, backing vocals], Vince Hornsby [bass], and Morgan Rose [drums]-entered their new creative hub, Architekt Studios in Butler, New Jersey, completely inspired and invigorated. The first single and album opener “Thank You” upholds the pillars of their signature style with a buoyant guitar groove, bombastic drums, and soulfully striking refrain. “There’s always someone trying to keep you down,” sighs Lajon. “At the end of the day, that negativity makes you stronger. You’re still going. It says, ‘Thank you for putting me down. Thank you for making me work harder. Thank you for hating!'” Thankfully, they’re still Sevendust through and through, and that’s what forged one of hard rock’s most diehard audiences.

The trio first exploded onto the Rock scene with their self-titled, self-produced and critically acclaimed debut album that was released July 23, 2013 on Loud & Proud Records and a sold-out worldwide tour. Hot Streak shows the powerfully pedigreed trios initial burst of collective chemistry was no accident, from the strum and headbang of Captain Love to the propulsive uplifting vibe of The Bridge to the introspective acoustic harmonic convergence of Fire. If these three Dogs thought they captured lightning in a supper dish the first time around, Hot Streak barks ups the aural ante into exciting new territory.

I like the way you walk
I like the way you talk
Let me hold your hand
Try to understand I want a girl like you
Tell my troubles to you
Don’t be afraid
You’ve heard what I said
Let the four wind blow
Let ’em blow, let ’em blow
From the East to the West
I love you the best
Let the four wind blow
Let ’em blow, let ’em blow
From the East to the West
I love you the best
