Out There at The Last Record Store — Remember when your car didn’t have auxiliary cord slots or Bluetooth capabilities to sync your phone to your stereo? Better yet, remember when CD players didn’t exist and tapes were all the rage?
Well, the majority of the local Americana music scene does. “The Out There Tapes” is a collection of songs by local acts such as Ashley Allred, Frankie Boots and The County Line, David Luning and Sean Hayes, just to name a few. The compilation was recorded at Gremlintone studios owned by local musician John Courage.
To celebrate the release of this collection of cool tunes, both The Crux and John Courage will play a free concert at The Last Record Store in Santa Rosa this Saturday. Swing by to pick up a copy, or listen to cool rock n’ roll guitar riffs and creative sounds made via large metal chains.

BIG in-store on Saturday September 2 @ 2pm ish:

Speaking of Petaluma, there is a show coming up that we want to mention:
On Sunday August 20, pianist/singer/songwriter Judith Owens comes to The Mystic Theater.
Currently on tour opening for Bryan Ferry, the Mystic show will be a special one with Judith headlining.
A couple of Judith Owen Fun Facts: her husband voices  Mr. Burns, Waylon Smithers, Principal Skinner, Ned Flanders,Reverend Lovejoy, Kent Brockman, and Dr. Hibbert. Yes, Judith is married to Harry Shearer.
Equally impressive is the fact that Judith’s bass player is the legendary Leland Sklar, one of the top bass players in the world. Take a moment to check out the recordings that he’s been on: AllMusic
We have a cool deal to share with you. Judith, Leland and her touring band cruise around the country in n custom tour bus, and around 1pm, they are going to pull up near the record store, and 4 lucky people will hop on the bus, and be treated to some songs in a super intimate setting. Here’s an idea what it will look like: Bus Sessions
Interested? Here’s what to do: send an email to me at  dougjayne@krcb.org   Subject Line Judith Owen  Body of email Why you want to get on the bus. Winners will be notified on August 18. I’ll also have some Mystic tickets to give away too.
Seriously, look at Leland Sklar’s discography and be amazed. Judith is the real deal. Should be fun!
