These are a few of our favorite things…

This time each year many music know-it-alls come up with “top ten lists”.
We at The Last Record Store are no different; all of our staff has cobbled together our lists,
and are on display for you to behold.
But, even a music insider like myself looks at these lists and thinks, “who in the hell is Vietnamese Probiotic?”

So, here are a few selections that I’m offering in hopes of helping you with last minute shopping:

~ Christmas Music
Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings: It’s a Holiday Soul Party
The best new Holiday album this year.

Phil Spector’s A Christmas Gift For You is a classic.

You will be a hero if you take these CD’s to a party and replace the tired Andy Williams album that has been playing on the hi-fi.

New Albums by old guys that still rock:

unnamed (3) Los Lobos: Gates of Gold

unnamed (4) Dave Alvin & Phil Alvin: Lost Time
Los Lobos still has it; one of the America’s greatest groups.
Former Blasters Dave and Phil are recording together again; their song
“Worlds in a Bad Condition” is one of the best songs of 2015.

Good album for someone that says “Back in my day…”
unnamed (5) Boz Scaggs: A Fool to Care

Duets with Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams, and a wonderful cover of The Spinners, “Love Don’t Love Nobody”

Looking back on two American musical treasures:

Dude was so prolific that he has 2 CD’s of unreleased tracks from his double album “The River”.

unnamed (7)Bob Dylan: The Cutting Edge
Outakes, alternate versions amd rehearsals from Bringing it all Back Home, Highway 61 Revsited, and Blonde On Blonde. A fascinating look at one of the most creative periods, by one of the greatest artists ever.

Fantastic new Jazz and such a deal! 3 CD’s for around $25

Good reason that this album is on so many top ten lists; it is an unexpected, rich and rewarding Jazz classic.

Buddy still has it. This is a great album…

3 excellent Americana albums:
