Skip & Spike CD Release Party

CD Release Party for Skip Heller & Spike Sikes Sacramento

LA-based guitarist/singer-songwriter Skip Heller has teamed up with Sonoma County’s Spike Sikes on Wurlitzer & vocals for a stripped-down new disc entitled “Sacramento.” Featuring originals by both of them, as well as a deep cut by John Hartford, the duo explores American roots music, blues, jazz, country, and soul. They pay tribute to their musical heroes (everyone from Louis Armstrong to Willie Nelson) sounding like old friends trading stories about riverboats.

Holiday Hours and Gift Ideas

Old, but prolific: Neil Young released 2 albums in 2017.
Hitchhiker is a solo acoustic studio album recorded on August 11, 1976 in Malibu.
Visitor is an album of new material recorded with Lukas Nelson and The Promise of the Real
They are both very cool.

Old, but prolific (Part 2): Van Morrison released 2 albums in 2017.
Versatile (his 38th solo album) came out in November 3 months after Roll With The Punches.
Both contain original songs, Versatile leans more toward pre-rock standards,
while Roll leans more toward a R&B and Blues sound.
They are both very cool.

New Archival Classic Rock:
Rolling Stones On Air is 32 classic tracks, recorded LIVE from performances on the BBC.
Yardbirds ’68 is 18 LIVE tracks that Jimmy Page recently discovered in his studio closet.
The 2nd disc is “studio sketches” of songs from that era. Jimmy has cleaned them up, and has fully endorsed the release.
They are both very cool.

Here are some more 2017 releases that we are fond of:
Bruce Cockburn Bone on Bone.
His last album was in 2011.
In that time, he wrote an autobiography, and moved to San Francisco with his wife and young daughter.

Another wisenheimer who felt it necessary to release 2 albums in 2017 is
Chris Stapleton. From A Room Volumes 1 & 2 are chocked full of great songs, very soulful and
beautifully recorded at Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A.
